I hope your summer is getting off to a great start! I just wanted to take a moment to write to you about what I feel is one of the most important events during the year that we do as a Student Ministry… that is Summer Camp!
Personally, as well as pastorally, I have seen the amazing benefits of taking groups of students “away” from “normal/everyday” life (at least for 1 week!) and up to a beautiful mountain camp. It is such a great opportunity to bring them to a place where they can be free from most distractions, and open to seeing what God did, and wants to do in them. I have definitely enjoyed and experienced this for myself, as it was at one of these summer camps 19 years ago… as my parents gently forced…uh, “urged” me to go, that I for the first time came to really understand and take my faith seriously (thanks mom and dad!). I know many of you have encountered these same types of “mountain-top” experiences in your own Christian journey. As you know, they are priceless not only for the individual, but also for the bonding and unifying of a solid youth group. I can tell you, if your child doesn’t feel like a “part” of the group yet… Summer Camp changes that, guaranteed… and all through fun! How cool is that?
If you aren’t sure what Hume Lake is all about, you can check it out at www.HumeLake.org Hume Lake is the premiere Christian camp in California and has always run a very powerful and effective program in reaching students through dynamic Bible teaching, dramas, music and lots of great activities! PCC has been going to Hume Lake for many years now, and we are very excited to be going again from July 27 – August 2! I’d love to see all students be able to experience this life-changing week. We have a limited number of spots available, and they are going quickly. I would encourage you to get signed-up as quickly as possible. The cost is $455 (June) or $475 (July) and covers everything for the week (except personal spending $ and some extra activities). We also have scholarships/payment plans available if there is a financial need. I’d hate to see money as the reason why someone is unable to be a part of this awesome week.
