Child Dedication at Pacific Coast Church
PCC believes children are a gift from the Lord (Ps. 127:3-5) and it is important for parents to raise their children according to biblical principles and God's word (Deut. 6:4-6, Prov. 22:6). PCC also believes that parents are to rely on God's Spirit for strength and wisdom (1 Cor. 2:12-13, Eph. 3:16-19) and that prayer is foundational for successful parenting (Prov. 16:3).  Therefore it is necessary that parents are committed followers of Christ, having repented of their sins and placed their faith in Him.  As a church, we are committed to supporting our families by praying for our children and dedicating them to the Lord.

PCC does not believe that the teaching of Scripture allows us to baptize children who are not old enough to make a willful decision of repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ (Mat. 28:19).  Baptism is an external symbol of what has happened in one’s life at conversion.  Baptism is commanded to take place after a volitional decision to follow Christ has been made (Acts 2:38).  Therefore we do not baptize infants or young children.
